The authorities, professors and students of the Kutaisi University of Law and Economics are terrified by the military and political intervention carried out by the Russian Government in Georgia. We consider it our duty and obligation to stand beside the government and its President of Georgia. Today we need to be strongly united.
Realizing the hard political situation in Georgia we try to make our modest contribution in destroying the false information war provided by the Neo-Bolshevik Government of Russia. For this purpose we have sent out letters to leading Universities of the world including Russian ones hoping that the progressive- thinking community will raise their voice against the unbelievable 21st century wide-scale aggression. The whole staff of the Kutaisi University of Law and Economics would like to express their deep condolences to the families whose children heroically died in this patriotic war and they give honor to their immortal names.
Today in Georgia the Georgian flags are bent down as a sign of mourning. But we believe that truth is on our side and the truth will win. The rehabilitated and renewed Bagrati Cathedral will once again become the symbol of powerful united Georgia.

Since 6 August 2008 Russian Federation has been carrying out occupation of the territory of Georgia in undeclared war conditions. The Russian government has been giving false information about the situation to the Russian population as well as to the world population. The Russian Government tries to convince the world that Georgia was first to start military actions.
Since its existence Georgia had many wars in which Georgia was always defending itself from foreign invaders. Evidently, in the 21st century Georgia, the new democratic country oriented on European values, could not have started the war against Russia- against one of the countries possessing the most powerful military potential.
Since 1992 there have existed two conflict regions in Georgia: Ossetia and Abkhazia, where Russian federation troops have been acting as peace-keepers just as if fulfilling peace keeping function. It was Russia which first started the wide-scale military actions in South Ossetia and later on they extended these actions on the whole territory of Georgia.
Russians have been bombing peaceful population of Georgian cities and villages (among other types using prohibited cassette bombs). They have been exploding schools, universities, hospitals, civil airports, seaports, killing children, women and elderly people. They even dared to bomb the international oil pipeline Baku- Jeikhan which might have resulted in a huge ecological catastrophe. Several times were bombed different cities of Georgia – Gori, Zugdidi, Senaki, Poti, Batumi, Tbilisi , Khoni.
Please, have a look at the map of Georgia and you can easily understand how far the Russian military actions go from the conflict zone of Ossetia and then you can realize how well Russia performs its peace-keeping function.
It is a fact, that in the 21st century the mankind condemns all kinds of aggression and makes all efforts to stop it, since aggression has no limits. It’s time the world community should realize the danger, that even a single unpunished fact of aggression can turn into a bigger aggression and then no one can predict who will be the next victim.
Thus, we are confident that the right evaluation of the events and your strong support to the Georgian people will be the most effective way to defeat Russia’s aggression today and any other aggression tomorrow.
The whole teaching staff of Kutaisi University of Law and Economics address you with a request to let the people around you get the real picture of the situation. We, Georgians want to live and develop peacefully in our own independent country.
